A man can do everything right in residential treatment and still lose it in the first month home if home is the same environment that fed the addiction. The early months of recovery are fragile, and going from a structured, supported setting straight back to an empty apartment and old contacts is where a lot of hard-won progress disappears.
Recovery housing exists to keep that drop from happening. It gives a man a stable, sober place to live while he rebuilds the parts of life that make staying sober sustainable.
How It Works
Step One’s recovery housing provides a sober living environment with peer accountability, clear expectations, and the structure of shared rules, while a man takes on more independence than residential care allows. He can work, handle his responsibilities, and practice living in recovery with support still within reach.
It is the difference between being released and being transitioned. One hopes the gains hold. The other is built to make sure they do.
