The Belief in the Way
For a lot of men, the decision not to get help was made the moment they assumed treatment was for people with better insurance or more money. They never made the call, because they were sure of the answer. That assumption keeps more men using than almost anything else.
Step One built the Recovery Access Sponsorship Program because that assumption costs lives. As a nonprofit, the organization can approach cost differently than a program that has to protect a margin.
What the Program Is
The Recovery Access Sponsorship Program exists to keep residential treatment within reach for men who would otherwise be turned away by what they can pay. It reflects the organization’s founding work with people facing homelessness and addiction, and it is one of the practical reasons Step One operates as a nonprofit.
